I've seen a lot of avocation for the usual oil weights and blah blah blah. Has anyone used HD40 during the summer in your wheeler EA's? I'm liking the idea, we run steady high rpm's, idle for long periods of time, and don't shut the vehicles down. Everything the oil is designed for. SAE40 is on the recommended weight list from Subaru by the way, for above 60F.

Good evening folks, I've owned an 82 and 86 Brat, both with manual transmissions, and am naturally blown away with how good it is off road. Naturally some of that is because of the low range that comes with the 4 speed. I'm about to buy an 83 with an automatic in pretty nice shape for a good price. Is the Brat with the 3 speed auto as good wheeling as the 4 speed with low range? Is it essentially like running in 4-hi? I'm not expecting it to be as good as my old Jeep Wrangler, but how well will it compare to the manual Brats I've had in the past? Thanks in advance. *Naturally I will post pics as soon as I pick it up tomorrow.

Forgive me Jeff for editing your post. Prepare for dust. It's a 7 mile long dusty road just to get to the parking lot. The trails themselves won't be so bad, but the main lines will be very dusty in August. Each vehicle needs to have a day pass for each day in the park. There is a gas station in Burnett (the only one) that sells the day passes for $5.50 per day. That gas station will be your last chance for gas ice and whatever. Bring your extra parts and especially axles. The trails are just rough enough to break your car if you don't listen to your spotter. Bring tools and recovery gear. Bring garbage bags so you can haul out whatever you bring in.

So I just got my rig and I hear this place is a good spot for new guys, anyone ever go? Anyone feel like going with me? I'm wondering if a stock rig will make it through or if I'm going to need a lift and tires first? Info would be great if anyone wants to go that would be awesome, a chance to get some of us together that are down this way. -kelson
