kiwishooter
monstaru, I have no problem waiting six month or even a year but one thing that changes is the exchange rate and possibly the cost of shipping so at the moment the gearboxes are US$350 six months time they could be $325 or they could be $375 with the way our peso fluctuates and the costs of shipping it is your choice.........at the end of the day I don't HAVE to arrange or sell anything. As I have been at pains to point out I'm not making a profit all I need to do is cover expenses.........so if no one buys any then I end up with time to do other things. One other thing to take into account is that in six months time there may be no gearboxes available at that price, as I ponted out the cheapest alternative source I found was NZ$650 and at the moment I have a hold on the 9 or 10 gearboxes the wrecker has, so if the required number of gearboxes aren't sold by the 30th Sept then they can return to selling them for NZ$500 ea. You have a great day because I'm going too.......cheers Edited September 22, 2009 by kiwishooter
kiwishooter
I wouldn't feel like its all on you( well it is' date=' you offered) but everyone stateside is just trying to reverse engineer what NZ subaru has done, not you. Dont you think its annoying that some country besides your own gets all the really cool options? I want a d/r with options. Who wouldnt? I also want to fix it if it breaks. Can I do that here? I want a sambar too! I couldn't drive one here if I had it legally. And Darn it why cant we download the manual!!!! Maybe you could distribute some of the top secret NZ subaru specs to help us understand what you got. I know translation is a pain but some of us even speak canadian! I'm local to the scooby and for the price I would love to fit it in my brat.[/quote'] Yo'J If i had known the local Subaru wrecker had Legacy gearboxes with Hi/Lo and centre diff lock I would have bought one for my Brumby instead of taking a Legacy Hi/Lo gearbox and fitting up the RX centre diff lock, it would have also worked out cheaper for me. One thing I may see about doing is saving the vehicle ID plate and affixing it to each gearbox at least then the buyer has the car details which should make it easier to source the correct parts........Ian
Phizinza
I would say getting aggressive at people because they asked a question and didn't get a straight reply is not polite forum conduct. Ease off and look at it from the other persons point of view. Just a tip mate. Yeah, right, like I wouldn't know what an EJ vs EA box looks like. You should do a search for 'Phizinza' on here, you'll see I know enough to know the differences. But go ahead, make uneducated blind statements... Finally, don't feel I'm trying to get in the way of you selling these gearboxes to people in the states. I'm just asking questions that I know these people would like to know the answers to before they spend $$$. See, I've been on here and answered plenty of questions about EJ D/R gearboxes long enough to know what these people want.
kiwishooter
know for sure this is a EJ gearbox and not an EA gearbox they wants to sell.. . Phizinza.......from your previous post it was you saying that I don't know the difference between a EJ and EA gearbox.
Phizinza
Phizinza.......from your previous post it was you saying that I don't know the difference between a EJ and EA gearbox. If you want to take it that way that's your problem. I was just saying there could be confusion to names as NZ has a lot of grey imports and jap names are all over the place vs Aus and US model names. all our FT4WD DRs have a 1.19:1. Sorry chux, I meant by "over there" as over in New Zealand. As in New Zealand (or the place the grey import came from if it was an import) had the option of 1.19 or 1.47 in the RX. If you knew the NZ market at all you would know that even with the Jap imports that have been imported into NZ the Legacy was still a Legacy in Japan. As far as I know Japan never put EA motors in Legacy's either. And I have plainly stated these gearboxes are still in vehicles. You question my knowledge yet dislike it when someone does the same to you.
superu
the one I have, out of a '92 Liberty GX has a 1.196:1 low range, 3.9:1 axle ratios, a VLSD center diff and the same 1-5 gears as a standard AWD legacy 5MT (not 100% sure on this, might have the shorter gears like the EA82t gearboxes) Did you get the one from Zap, or was it Nipper (I forget who is ho in the Northwest...:-\)? this spring? If so, PM me, I've questions
