ampsoma
Hey folks, kinda new to the whole car world (but damn they are fun to work on), and having a problem with the ignition for my brat. the voltage regulator fried and i got it back to my house by disconnecting the alternator and wiring the fuel pump direct to the battery (with switch and fuse). so i could still get it to run in this fashion, but once i got a new voltage regulator and installed the bugger, the darn thing wouldnt even turn over. not sure what i did between unplugging the old and plugging in the new one that would cause such a problem, but would love some advice. The Beast I Drive
Did you charge the battery? If you drove it home with the alternator disconnected, it was not charging the battery, and your ignition was being powered solely by the battery's charge. It should be dead as a doornail and will need to be charged... Then try it again. -Bill
