lkindred
Head gaskets replaced - radiator obviously needs to be replaced as car was overheating and water bubbling out of radiator yesterday afternoon. I called Mac's Radiators and they want anywhere from $228-$282 for a new one. I swear I paid Macs $125 for a new radiator for my 86 Hatch. Does anyone know a parts place in Portland metro area that sells radiators cheaper than $225? Thanks!
hatchsub
Who did the head gaskets? Water bubbling out of the radiator makes me suspicious of head gaskets still.
GeneralDisorder
Discount Import Parts in Milwaukie or Beaverton. Bubbling out the radiator could be simply overheating, head gaskets, or air bubbles in the cooling system. Make sure the front end is higher than the back when filling and burping the cooling system. akc
I just bought my 86 radiator at NAPA for $
GeneralDisorder
I just bought my 86 radiator at NAPA for $125 That's EA82 though. The '83 is an EA81 and as such has a dual-core all-metal radiator. They are generally more expensive. I've bought brand new EA82 radiators for $65 shipped off ebay - the cheapest I've ever paid for an EA81 is about $120. GD
lkindred
Thanks everyone for the help! Appreciate it. floortom (Ken) did the head gaskets and believe me he's done them before and they are not suspect. Positive it is indeed the radiator - just wanted to see if I could find one for less than $225-$280. Lynn
