subidude04
What does it mean when it asks for "vin-4", "vin-5" "vin-7". I am trying to order headgaskets, and i dont know the difference. Some replacement parts say for all 1800 c.c engines, but the headgaskets are specific. help!
Markus56
Its referring to the numbers in the vehicle's VIN. 4 and 5 are the fourth and fifth digits in the VIN code. The 4th represents the make and the 5th is the series. I'm a little confused about 7 though because that is what kind of seat belt system it has. Are you sure that 7 is right? It should be the 8th number, as that represents what kind of engine it has in it. The both the EA-81 and EA-82 are both 1800 engines but use different parts, so the 7th (8th?) digit will tell them the specific engine. What year/model car do you have? subidude04
Well, I figured it out. I guess I am vin code 5. Thanks for the advice though!
zyewdall
I think that refers to whether it's the hatch, sedan, wagon, etc... because for a while they used both the EA81 and the EA82 in the same years, but in different cars, so just going with the 1800cc engine doesn't help...
