ellets
My 88 gl has acquired a problem. It is spfi no turbo. If it was a carbed unit I would know were to look. When you open throttle at lowspeed it hesitates. ( no accel pump) Once it starts to go it is great. Very good acceleration. Everything looks good. hoses etc. New fuel pump, filter, plugs etc. Who knows where to look?
GeneralDisorder
Could be a lot of things. Have you adjusted the timing? Cleaned the MAF? Checked the TPS for proper sweep? Could be loose (maybe about to break) timing belts. I've had that problem before - couldn't figure out the hessitation for the life of me. Belt broke on the freeway within a few thousand miles - replaced it and no more hessitation. GD
torxxx
No CEL codes? I've always noticed that SPFI has a lag when you floor it compared to carb'd EA82's. A few other things that will cause the problem you are talking about: Bad fuel (old fuel that has lost its boom properties) Vacumn Leaks EGR valve opening too fast. One way to check the EGR is stick a BB in the vac line going to the back of the EGR valve. it will disable the vac to it disabling it completely. EGR is only used on acceleration so thats why I suggested it Edited October 6, 2009 by torxxx
