coolskaterkid
so the the zero-50 side of the speedo lights up but the other does not. So a bulb i guess does the gauges come out towards the stering wheel or do you get to it from the back?
valvestem
Since no one replied, I'll tell you what I know, look for a single screw centered underneath the dash hood over the gauge window, I think if this is removed, the pod can be wiggled out from the top. I only learned this recently while looking at a ScanGauge installation, but I don't know what model year or body style the Subaru was.
EVOthis
I believe there are 4 screws holding the cluster trim in..remove them (phillips head) and the trim should pop off..than there might be another either 2 or 4 screws holding the cluster in..remove them and the i think 3 or 4 wiring harness connectors from the back of the cluster and the cluster can be pulled out and manuvered around the steering wheel..while your back there I would be replacing all bulbs...Ive pulled many a subaru cluster lol and for the life of me I without a pic I cant relate the year of the car as to how to do it..most of them vary only slighty....lol... bgambino
its a little difficult to explain all the details...But I just did it on my 02 legacy GT I think there were two screws above the speedometer that you can get to first (these are in the domed shroud--direcly underneath the dashboard(---see what i mean about trying to explain? Surrounding the plastic lens you see in my pic was my woodgrain plastic molding--this can pop out but there is no way to grab it so first I removed the plastic just below it...under/around the steering column I then reached behind the wood grain stuff and pushed it out Then the screws are visible around the speedometer cluster Remove and tilt cluster out...there are 4 brown plastic bulb holders....1/2 turn and they come out. The bulbs on mine had these blue rubber "condons" over them. There was no wattage on the bulb but they are just like certain parking lite bulbs. I put one of those in and it was a little brighter (I re-used the condom---sorry guys...sounds sick, I know!). Not knowing if this was a great idea (using these bulbs), I bought them from the dealer...the holder/bulb/condon come as one--about $4.50 ea Hope that helps...and yes...I replaced all 4..! Who wants to go back there again right?
