chrisp27
I recently bought a 1986 Brat (GL) for my daughter. The previous owner had removed some of the emissions parts as they didn't need to pass an emissions test. I do have to pass that test and need to reinstall the parts. Does anyone know where I can get a good diagram/picture of the different parts of the Brat emissions parts and how they all interconnect. The parts I have are a couple of what appear to be vacuum chambers with hose connections on them. I am pretty good with cars, but know nothing about emissions. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
bheinen74
In Colorado, it should pass the tailpipe test, heck all cars in CO pass that test, they just need your money. I wouldnt worry too much about it failing. The only thing i've sen fail in CO is a leaky gas cap.
GeneralDisorder
Those are probably the air suction valves - they provide fresh air to the exhaust for the cat to work properly. Best bet is to just add an aftermarket cat to the mid-pipe and toss those valves in the round file. They are WAY more trouble then they are worth and modern cat's don't need them anymore.
