Dickensheets Posted October 11, 2009 Share Posted October 11, 2009 Hi all. Got an 07 Forrester LL Bean normially aspirated. Towing package and leather. 38,000 miles. Traded the 99 Grand Cherokee (piece of shat). Book says only use Subaru ATF. What are the alternatives? Book says I "may" have a LSD in the rear. How do I know? And if I do what lube for that thing? Initially there was confusion over whether only the 5EAT (but not the 4EAT) needed it. However, there were some internal changes in later 4EATs, and they also should get the ATF-HP. Do I need a special gear lube or friction additive for that? In a word -- maybe. VLSD/Clutch-type/Torsen? Clutch type requires the additive in the oil.
