Hello all!

Recommended Posts

Just bought my first Subaru, it's a 1989 GL 4WD. If someone could change my name to 1989GL4WD that would be awesome. The guy I bought it from thought it was an 88 and then I looked at the inside door panel lol. It cost me $500 and I knew it needed work. So far I have gotten the brakes, an axle, and the radiator and hoses replaced along with 4 new mud/snow tires. I still have to get the oil valve cover gaskets replaced because it has a leak. So far I love driving it! I have been borrowing a friends 1996 ford ranger and it was terrible to drive. I know the GL has a smaller engine but it feels much more powerful on the hills. I look forward to learning about Subarus and checking out everyone rides. I will post pictures when I get a chance.

Peace

Hello 88.

FYI

I recently purchased a mint condition GL4WD hatch.

It's silver with a blue interior.

It has all the OEM mud flaps too.

I get offers to buy it alot.

So far I have added a weber carb and accel coil.

I have also upgraded to 14" pugs.

At this point it needs nothing and drives great.

But-- I just can't leave it alone.

I'm considering a lift kit and maybe a 5 spd trans.

I'm not sure I want to get that far into it, but it would be awesome.

If anybody has an original roof rack or tow hitch, I'm looking to add these.

Also if anybody knows how to get more power out of the 1.8 let me know.

I plan on installing a low retriction Y pipe- which I have and a turbo muffler, but I don't want to lose all my torque.

Any non-major engine mods that I can do?

For anyone interested I have the original carb and air cleaner in excellent shape with a whole box of related nuts and bolts.

I also have the OEM white spoke wheels in very nice shape- with the center caps.

They are for sale, or possible trade for some cool parts.

Thanks for looking.

I can be contacted at dhafra439@gmail.com
