eppoh
Read on here that OBW struts would work on the Legacy Wagon. I did the rears with no problem. Got the struts with springs from a 99 OBW in the junkyard, and gained about 2 inches in the rear and less squat in my 97 Legacy wagon when loaded.. Wondering if the front will be the same easy job. Also, are the springs from the OBW different from the Legacy wagon? Thinking about going with new OBW struts and keeping the Legacy front springs. eppoh
straight up swap. What about using the original Legacy springs with new OBW struts? I'd rather put new shocks than used ones from the junk yard. It would be easier than paying for and compressing the junk yard springs to put new struts on them. WoodsWagon
Original legacy springs will work fine with outback struts. It gives you the same amount of lift. Here's my dad's 95 legacy with legacy springs and gr2 struts with outback sized tires and rims on it vs my mom's stock 98 outback:http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s171/calgearhead/LegacywithOutbackstrutsandtiresonly.jpg Edited October 30, 2009 by WoodsWagon Failure to propely upload picture

Any problems with camber and tire wear?
WoodsWagon
Nope, I was able to bring the allignment back in with the stock adjustments. No problems with the axles either and it's been a couple years since I lifted it. My dad's back isn't so good anymore so I used that as the main justification for switching to outback struts when he needed new ones for inspection. The GR2's are a bit stiffer shocks than stock, but the ride is fine. It's the same weight held by the same springs. Handles good, does better in the snow, and is easier to get into and out of. I put the skidplate off of his old 86 gl on it so that he won't bash the pan if he gets adventurous but I doubt he will.
coldfusion21
stiffer ride i would think........ Well, I would think the best bet would be the OBW springs with the OBW shocks, if it really is that easy. I assume the springs are of pretty equal lengths?
