was looking for snow flake rims & look what I found

Recommended Posts

they were attatched to this 97 legasy parts car I bought for $500! Body is great. Car has been sitting for 5 years...woman says her old boyfriend had a problem with engine not starting....he went to australia 5 years ago and they tried to have him get a title but he had no NY licsense any longer and DMV said no.

So...no title

He/they thought the problem had something to do with a monster stereo system he had in car...note the massive power cord shownn that lead to battery...its huge

They thought maybe the computer got fried or something

It was drizzling today and I washed it...washed motor...and checked all fuses in both boxes. Tomorrow I want to try and turn it over

Is there a plug to drain the gas tank? I hate trying to use that old gas.

Of course I have no idea if there is a spark yet...can I pull the fuse for the fuel pump? is it under dash or under hood?

One rim is actually peeling...has anyone else seene that?

Also...whatts with the aftermarket air filter? is it better than stock?

Nice find! Hopefully I can make mine look that nice some day. I've never been a big fan of white cars but I think it looks pretty good with the wheels and spoiler.

Can't be that hard to make it start. I'd pull the timing covers and check the belt and make sure the timing marks line up on both sides. Could also be something simple like a CPS.

I'd get rid of that stupid filter. Sucking in hot air from the engine compartment doesn't help performance.

will a defective cam or crank sensor prevent start up?...will there be no spark at all if one of these is bad?

My stereo cable is bigger.....

How many miles are on the vehicle? Does the car turn over? Does it sound healthy when it turns over? I would throw a spark tester and a noid light on there first to make sure you at least have spark and and injector pulse... I dont believe there is a plug on the gas tank on these or if there is I have never seen one... Either way for $500 it looks like you got a pretty good deal..good luck with her....;)

You can disconnect the fuel line at the filter and then hotwire the fuel pump in the boot. This is how I removed the 6 galons of fuel left in my 91 legacy before it had to go to the scrapyard.

good idea...how do I get to the fuel pump...and what do you mean by "boot"?

the car has 195k on the odometer

Yes it can. With no signal from the crank position sensor the ECU doesn't know when the crankshaft is turning. It uses that signal to determine when to fire the spark plugs based on the angle of the crankshaft.
