xoomer
Hey, Rebuilding my EJ22t and Was wondering if torquing the Heads to 60 Foot pounds, yes I read the instructions from the FSM but I didn't put new head bolts on it... So I just torqued it down the best I could. should I go a little tighter? everything is coming along nicely... hopefully I will have this thing done soon. Fairtax4me
Follow the instructions to the T. You WILL have gasket trouble in a very short time if you don't.
xoomer
I would have but, following the instructions left it at 20 ft pounds, and that doesn't sound right.
subaru360
Torque them to 22, then 51. Back off 1/2 turn. Then 25 on the inners and 11 on the outers. Then 1/4 turn, then 1/4 turn more.
970subaru
i use a breaker bar and a degree wheel for the last part. the more leverage gives you greater control and less wear and tear on your torque wrench.
