Midwest Subaru Meet-April 24th and 25th starts 24th at 11AM

Recommended Posts

Was really wanting to make it out to the Meet, but I just can't afford the time right now.

If this will be an annual event, I will make the effort to do it next year. A little better planning of the Spring work load, and I'll have the time to do so.

Y'all have fun now, y'hear!!!!!!

I TT Syrinx tonight, he was in need of directions to the campground. In case anybody else needs them:

Take 183 (Like north out of Pisgah or south from (moorhead?))like you are going to the park. There will be a blue highway sign indicating Loess Hills Hideaway. The sign and turn are about 1/2-1 mile South of the turn to Preparation canyon state park.

well it looks like i made it out here to eyesore. sorry, no van and trailer, but we did get the turbo wagon running. sunday i am going to try my luck at doing the HEAD GASKETS on the sedan, and if i got it to run, sure i'll drive it back!

i brought some parts, i hope to sell enough to make about 50-75 bucks, as i will need a little extra flow to drive back one of these cars. would anyone have a mounted tire on the rim?

i brought a pair of ea81 fenders from out west, 1982. i have a pair of ea82 wagon headlights, and a pair of sedan taillights. i also have an ea81 wagon taillight, passenger side, 1982, and the bezel for both sides.

i brought the turbo crosspipe for archemitis, i left it with mcbrat.

so here we are in a TRASHWAGON SIX!!

Too tired to go into all the details..... Cold, and heavy rains today. At the moment my car is abandoned in the mud, too deep & sticky and far for even a tractor to get in and free it. Also stuck are: Chef Tim's hatch (with a fried clutch) Shawn W's Turbo brat, Trashwagon 6, Subiemech's Gen2 wagon, A 200? Legacy belonging to a couple of guys from Des Moines, Another Brat (daves' ? can't remember....sorry) Redlance's 2wd van, more? can't remember. Brain is fried. McBrat is free, but thinks his front diff is shot. Everybody else was lucky enough to get out. 1 mile of deep sticky gumbo mud in front and behind us. We walked the mile out, and got rides to nearest town. I made it home (thanks mom) Most everyone else is hold up in motel rooms or in a rented cabin for the night. Supposed to continue raining all night. MIGHT get them out tomorrow, if things dry up....might be monday. Everybody cold, soaked, and covered in mud. Think good thoughts for us people.....several of us really really need to be home safe by Monday. Hopefully, I we can all get free tomorrow. Must go sleepytime soon. I'm soo used up.

To the guys that are stuck and broken: Let us know if you guys need parts shipped to you to make the drive home. I will dig into my stash if theres anything that can be used. I'm sure others will do the same.

Good luck, that sounds like some nasty mud.

You just wouldn't believe today if you were there. last night I got a couple of local boys with big Fords to come give us a hand. In the rain, and mud, and blood we tried for all we could. The one truck broke the other narrowly escaped being stuck with us. Went back out this morning, just a sloppy sticky mess. I honestly have never seen mud like this, pure gumbo is the only way to describe it. Four got out yesterday: Dave Valient, McBrat(who wisely turned around and went back), a silver EA82 wagon and Vicky in DRTYGRL. After about 2-3 hours this morning, the cops show up. Seems one of them owns the farm on one side. They ordered us to immediatly stop and get out of there. I'm tired and hungry, but I got over being cold from a hot shower at the Super 8, with, by the way, super nice people to even let us stay there. The guys who were trying to help us were also the best!!!! We left shortly after getting chased out, with arangements for Ian (local guy who was helping us) to deliver my hatch. Funny side note, we stopped for gas on the way out (I'm head to toe mud including mud dreds) and the girl at the counter asked if we were some of the ones who were stuck, gotta love small town America. I'm sure there is more to come as others trickle home. Tim

Were I him, I'd have one of his entourage stay w/ TW6, take a co-driver, get the '84 TurboWagon from Des Moines back to Indiana and get his behind to court!

If any of you can pass word to him, this would be a good thing to encourage him to do. Either that, or talk to Chef Tim, since Chef Tim has more than enough Subarus lying around to get everyone home...

All cars still stuck. Nobody is getting out today....maybe tomorrow. Maybe Tuesday. Redlance and Miles Fox and crew are staying for the duration. (the turbowagon runs, but smokes like a chimney, and has no paperwork, and is 3 hours away. best to drive it under cover of night. Miles will not be making court.) Sounds like Tim has his car in order, no idea what Shawn is ultimately planning on...he has headed for home. Subiemech and I are waiting to hear from Fox and crew when the cars are out and/or getting rescued...we'll then go retrieve 'em. No idea on what the guys in the Legacy are doing. Shure would like to see those military choppers right about now, can't even get a tractor to the cars today. I second Tim, this is some of the nastiest mud I've ever seen. It has no bottom, and seems to be 75% rubber cement. Was (and I assume still is) one heck of a sight to behold. Hope somebody got some pics of the devistation. Jeeze, what a mess.

P.S. Fox and crew are supposed to give me an update tomorrow. Probably won't know more till then.

The only decent video I got was of Shawn using a prybar to dig out his fenderwells. On an aside,if you are going to use the self serve car wash that is right over by the Super 8,don't use the change machine it ate my $5 bill and gave me nothing in return. The pressure on the hoses really sucks also.I spent $7 trying to get the mud out of my wheels and wheel wells.I thought I had gotten it all but on my way to Sioux City I couldn't go over 50 mph.I pulled over and pulled my front wheels off on the side of the interstate and scraped them as well as I could, but that mud must have been crafted by satan himself because it almost was bonded to the wheels.I got as much of it off as I could and was able to do 60mph until some more mud inside the fenderwells fell off and landed on the inside if the wheel.Back to not being able to go over 50mph.So I crawled my way into Sioux City and went ot the first truck stop I saw.The guys working in the shop were kind enough to let me use the high pressure truck wash hose for no charge and was able to get it all pretty much out.I must have done something to my tranny, sometimes when I take off in drive it feels like it is in second. It will also sometimes while taking off in drive start out in first and will not shift unless I drop it in second and pop it back in drive.other than that all is well and I am counting my blessings for having been able to get out of that mess.Dave.
