Ratty2Austin
well, i took a few pics of my weber and it's plumbing setup... the PCV system in specific- i have seen a lot of people asking how to do it, and the pictures seem to be better than a thousand words... so heres the link to my ea81 setup! (seems to be the best setup i have found for the ea81, and maybe even for the ea82 with webers) http://usmb.net/gallery/album159 someone should add this to the USRM? hope this helps people out! the checklist of the only things you need hooked up on your engine-(and it will pass emissions this way too!) -brake booster -disty advance -defrost flapper hose (goes to firewall) -PCV hoses L and R ignition power and the usual stuff is all you need! Qman
Austin, that's a good start. Things you need to improve are: accellerator cable mounting and linkage. spring location. and fuel lines. I'll take some pics and explain then.
edrach
I thought I was the only one who used tie-wraps for the throttle return spring!
Skip
I also like running the PCV system through an auxiliary filter, this keeps any blowby not controlled by the PCV system from feeding into the carb/primary air filter. An air cleaner assembly off of a small gas engine works great. What about the AIS plumbing?? My server can not access the gallery so maybe I missed it
Mike W
A nice dry place for that aux air filter is up behind the driver's side strut tower. Stays nice and dry up there. That's a good place for the fuel tank vent too and it can even share the same filter if you're creative. Might be worth pointing out that the idea is to keep the pcv system functioning the same as it did stock (as opposed to just venting both valve covers to the atmosphere or connecting both valve cover hoses to the aircleaner, as some guys have done.) Those must be official Subaru wire ties on that throttle return spring. Rally blue and yellow.

I do that too, my spring is between a beefy black tie wrap tied to the front engine lifting hook going rearward to the spring Austin... interesting idea there... much cleaner than my setup with 2 T fittings (think one long hose going from valve cover to cover with a T fitting rearward for the PCV valve and frontward for the air cleaner)
Qman
Here's a link to pics of how I did mine. Note the drivers side goes to the PCV and the passenger side goes to the air filter(just like Austin's). You do not want to run the vent hoses together. It needs to get air from one source and pull into the PCV from the other. All parts used for the linkage, spring mount and fuel line inlet were taken from the Hitachi. The location for the accellerator cable needs to be as straight as possible. If it isn't it will cause a groove in the casing and eventually break or stick. Bad thing in either case. Flowmastered87GL
Hmmm looks like I will be replumbing the system then. I just did what Jason had suggested based on how his 76 was set up. Hopefully the car will run a bit better with it redone Maybe at the same time I'll try to get that stupid weber adapter leak fixed
Ratty2Austin
the throttle cable setup is something i have wanted to fix ever sence i put it in the car... i am not sure exactly how to do it... or at least I cant find the right parts to do it! maybe next time we meet up, i can see how you bolted yours on (and find out which hitachi setup you used and where you bolted it)
Mike W
I have mine setup basically the same as Ken's, but with the addition of a t-fitting in the drivers side going up to a small air filter. I forget the whole reason for doing it that way (almost asleep now) but that's how Subaru had it stock. Seems like it needed to be able to suck in atmospheric air from that side under certain conditions? Anyone have a better explanation? Maybe I'll remember why I did it that way in the morning. Mike W
Oh yeah and if you're having trouble getting the throttle cable to pull the way you want it to and can't find the parts you need and don't feel like buying stuff from the local VW store, cruise the junk yard. Lot's of nifty throttle levers to choose from. The one I used for my 38/38 came off a fuel injected Dyhatsu Rocky or some funky rig like that and the cable stop came off a Volvo or Saab or Audi then I tweeked it to the angle I needed. Whatever works.
Qman
The return line goes to the stock location. For the vent line from the canister I just left it open. The line comes out near the fuel filter. I'll get another pic or two later.
