November 12, 200916 yr Was wondering if anyone has tried to put the 3.3 turbo engine from a 92 svx into an outback 5 speed? Just putting out the feelers It's not a turbo and yes it can be done and has been. All we'll drive in NJ did one. I forget his username on here.
November 12, 200916 yr Author It might not be a turbo... It drove like one. Yeah I can get the car cheap (500) thought it might be a doable thing.. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Craig

November 13, 200916 yr Are you positive? The EG33 is too long to fit that body without substantial metal work. Yes I'm sure. The radiator support was cut out and the radiator moved forward. There are pics on here I just don't remember where.
November 13, 200916 yr Is the SVX wrecked? Or does it just have a toasted transmission? SVXes are fun with a manual tranny! As for the Outback, I've seen an Outback SUS (first gen Outback sedan) with an EZ30 in it. (3 liter chain driven flat six out of the H6 outback)
November 13, 200916 yr Author No the svx isnt wrecked just real rough around the edges.. would rather stick with at car that has readily available cheap parts ( legacy/outback). I would rather go with the 3.0 out of the outbacks but haven't seen any in the local yards that I can get engine, wiring harness and computer. Whats the track record on the 3.0? good engine? Never messed wit one.
November 13, 200916 yr 3.0 is a great engine. Subaru's first timing chain. The chain guides ocassionally have issues. The subaruoutback board has an entire forum for the 3.0 H6 engine version, read through/search there if you want more info on that timing chain deal. The accessory belt idler pulley bearings fail all the time, but they're so cheap and easy to replace it's not even funny. I did both of mine...30 minutes or something, it was so easy i barely remember. Basically they're a maintenance item - every 100,000 miles or something.
November 13, 200916 yr It can be done. You have to move the radiator, and I think you may loose the AC. Otherwise it just fits in. nipper
