lmdew
I'd drain the tank and put good fuel in it. Is the Check Engine Light on? If so get the codes and let us know what they are. Could be many things, but if it started just after you put fuel in it, it may be bad gas. Was the tank pretty empty when you fueled up?
frag
It also could be that the engine does'nt want to start when it's at operating temperature. If it's the case, the temperature sensor is usually the culprit. It tells the Engine Control Unit (computer) that the engine is cold when in fact it is hot. ECU directs the injectors to send to much fuel to the cylinders and the engine floods. Just a possibility. You usually get a Check Engine Light when that happens. Chekc if the motor constantly refuses to start when hot but not when cold.
peter 1982
thanks - there is no check engine light flashing at all even at the beginning after start. - i dont think its a fuel quality related problem because i refuel twice on different petrol stations in different cities -after each refuel i got the same problem - fuel tank was almost empty , reserve light was on -when its cold or warm it doesnt matter sometimes starts ok , sometimes not -i have also problem with torque bind.A few weeks ago i did the trick with FWD fuse , the AT oil temp light which was flashing 16 times is gone.I also feel the difference on tight turns. nipper
Lets attack the stalling issue first. My 97 will do this starting issue on ocassion. I am 98% sure with Blu its a dying crank position sensor. There arent many things that will make a no start condition on a subaru (crank sensor engine coolant sensor). The stalling I would think may be a coolant temp sensor. These will not always throw codes. Since these are intermittent issues, throwing parts at these would not be a bad thing (as they arent terribily expensive used). nipper

If you sucked the tank dry, its a good chance that the filter on the end of the fuel pump is clogged. The fuel pump/sending unit is on the top of the tank on the passenger side. There should be a metal cover on the floorboard with 4 screws for access. Pinch off the fuel lines, unplug the connection and remove the bolts for the top plate. It all should pull out as a unit with the filter sock at the end.
nipper
Just for gigles, check the charcoal canister and see if it feels heavy. It may have sucked up gas and that can cause problems. Just a longshot but a cheap and easy thing to check. nipper
