subienu
Hello, I had a few Subarus back in the mid- 80's & I recently acquired an Outback which had leaky head gaskets that I repaired. I loved my 88 GL & this Outback is truly a fun car. I find them relatively easy (not as easy as my '67 mgb, however) to work on. I have an opportunity to acquire another & was hoping to get some engine swap advice. I'm pretty new to computer forums but this website looks excellent. Thank you for the chance to pose some questions. I'm looking forward to 'meeting' some Subaru experts.

subienu
Thank you! I'm not a big computer/internet user but this site is great. I can't believe how quickly I received responses to my transplant question. Really helpful & knowledgeable people on this forum. I'm afraid I won't be a very good contributor but if ever anyone on here needs a little help on old cars, maybe I can give them a hand. Thanks, again. Indrid cold
hey, welcome to the board. Yea...lots of great info here. Your like the lone wolf way over there... keep an eye at the junk yards for any finds etc... that you care to share with us . I hate to see good old Subaru's go to a crusher.... Baker Oregon has a couple pop up now and then but a bit far for me.... FYI: there are several gatherings with the subaru's, the big one is usually the West Coast Subaru show in July, from kids to older people show off their rigs... Generation 1 to current models... great time.
rainman19154
Yeow, didn't notice you were in Pendleton! I'm a recent transplant from Pdx to Phl, but I had road trips out your way. High wide n lonesome .... especially the northeastern area, eastern Oregon is cowboy country, all right. Antelope and sage brush out there. (I like the more rocky area south toward Burns and Prineville. Great scenery down there). In that eastern corridor, La Grande and Baker City are each a veritable metropolis. Don't know what you'll find for recycle/junk yards... but you might spot a parked/junked Subbie in somebody's yard. That's a dry area (excepting the snow season, of course). I'm thinking you might find some rigs in good shape out there.
subienu
Thank you all for the welcome's. I have some friends with a towing business & they do not (not surprisingly) tow in all that many Subaru's. I think there are some '70's Subies down in the impound area & I will look next weekend & list what they may have. I don't know if I can post a link but, I use this website http://www.car-part.com/ regularly to find parts & there are a surprising number of Subaru parts available in yards around WA. & OR. http://www.car-part.com/
