RAugur33
How are you connecting the tachometer in the EA81 to EJ22 swap? Do I need an aftermarket tach? Thanks. BTW: swap passed emissions today! Edited December 8, 2009 by RAugur33

jrettenmayer
Pin c10 or c16 or something like that (the wire is black with a blue stripe) comes off the ECU and splices into the tach signal wire that should be coming from your coil. On my EA82, it was yellow.
gwilson87
If you have/had a donor car I found it helpful to keep the old gauge cluster because then I can trace wires when my tape that was labeling them fell off. Use the pinout that numbchux has on his website and that will tell you what wire is supposed to be the tach wire, and then find the one that comes off your gauge. It is kind of confusing but at the same time not. I spent a few days just following wires around because I kept second guessing myself, but it ended up working. I recommend reading the conversion manual in the sticky of this section, at least 3,4 or 6 times

Gloyale
Run the tach wire from the EJ harness to the yellow wire in the FPCU (fuel pump control unit) It is mounted on teh driver side kickpanel, above the hood release. You don't need it anymore with the EJ harness controlling the pump. So you can just unplug the connetor, put a male spade on your EJ tach wire, and plug it into the yellow wires slot.
