86deathwagon
My Wagon has the 4 lug on it most of you already know, and i was wondering if i got new rims will they have a support for the center axle end that sticks out of the rotor through the rim or will i have to do a 5 lug conversion or get longer lug studs to have clearance over the hub
Numbchux
and what "new rims" do you plan to put on there? only things that will fit are '80s peugeot wheels, or modified 6-lug truck stuff. both of which have plenty of clearance for the hub. GeneralDisorder
Old Subaru's are not hub-centric and as such do not need to fit exactly over the nibs on the hub. Peugot rims will work, but you won't find much in the 4x140mm pattern out there. Basically old Subaru rims and 504/505 Peugot rims. You can machine the hubs to accept 6-lug Chevy/Toyota/Nissan/Mazda/Etc truck rims, or you can do the 5 lug conversion and use newer Subaru rims. Those are the easiest options though people have done other things. I think I recall that someone did a redrill to an older VW pattern as well. The Beast I Drive
SJR sells an adapter plate that will let you bolt the old-school 5-on-huge bolt pattern VW wheels. I say a set on a older wagon and they looked pretty cool. -Bill

The Beast I Drive
If you want to put 5x100 bolt pattern wheels on your car the only option you have is to do the 5 lug swap. Or have custom adapters made to go from 4x140mm to 5x100mm, but then the wheels would probably stick out of the fenders, and you would not have done any kind of suspension upgrade. -Bill

The Beast I Drive
You need a combination of XT6 parts and ideally some Legacy/Impreza parts. You need the XT6 front control arms, Legacy/Impreza front struts and knuckles, XT6 front axles, and XT6 rear hubs. You can use XT6 front knuckles and struts, but they are slightly different from the Legacy/Impreza stuff, and you will be limited to the stock XT6 brakes. With the Legacy parts you can put WRX calipers and rotors on. At least so Ive heard. Im not a 5 lug junky, I lift my rigs and drill out Toyota rims But from what I have seen in person and read here those are the ideal parts for the swap. Numbchux and many others can help more if you have more questions. -Bill
