'02 Impreza ATF dipstick...

Featured Replies

keeps popping out of filler tube. Any suggestions to resolve (o ring)? or do I need to replace the dipstick... (no personal comments that I didn't already think of need apply).

Thanks!

Peter

How many miles are on the vehicle? You could try a new o-ring or I'm sure a new/used dipstick isnt that expensive...is the trans fluid overfilled at all? I would find it pretty hard to believe it just keeps popping out...they have a pretty good tight fit partially because of the length of the dipstick...

seems strange on an '02 but anything is possible. just for good measure take a peak at the AT vent to make sure it's not all gummed up. make sure the atf level is correct. just my .02

OK, here's the follow up....

It's my wife's car, I'm out of town & trying to diagnose/resolve over the phone... talked to her about the "vent tube syndrome" & so she took/brought the car to a mechanic she trusts...

1. NOT the at dipstick but the transaxle...

B. he put a larger o ring on & refilled the case

III. so far (2 days but our house is 40 miles round trip to town & like 60 miles r.t. to the mechanic) the stick is stuck.

Hope this was the rightful answer...

Thanks.

Later,

Peter
