Another Timing Belt Mark Question

Happy Holidays All.... I have done 4 Subaru timing belts and this is the first one that had man made white marks from the last shop to do the belt. I know how the marks should be lined up. But here is what does make sense. Both Cam sprockets are line up with the metal notch to the back of the timeing belt guard. The problem is the Crank Sprocket is pointing 90 degrees right as seen in the pics. It should point straight up. What do I do. Leave as is or swing it back 90 degrees. It has been running fine the past 90K miles. 98 OBW Auto with a 2.2

It looks right. mine had that triangle point to the right also. It's the big dot. that is at 12 o'clock

yep looks right to me.

my understanding is that the actual crank sprocket timing mark is NOT on the front face of the sprocket but on the rear "tabs". and your picture doesn't show that detail. the other telltale is that the crank keyway is down at the 6 o'clock position.

The mark on the ear at the back of the sprocket, and the dot on the face, are the 2 marks. The dash on the ear is barely visible under the Crank Sensor. Note that some engines the sprockets do not have the dot, only the mark on the ear.

 

The triangle or arrow mark you reference is used with the arrows on the Cam for valve adjustment on solid lifter motors

 

Also as noted the crankshaft keyway will always be straight down when the timing mark is correct.
