EA81 to EJ22 Swap Intake Ideas?

I read the writeup, and I searched. I'm looking for creative ideas for the air intake system when I do the EJ22 swap in my Brat. This thing would be for rallyx only, so mine might get more dirt but a lot less water than a typical wheeling Brat. Let me know what you guys have come up with.

Thanks.

more dirt brings to mind a snorkel. getting air from above the dust cloud you will be creating by getting the brat sideways  I have an adapter and a cone filter on mine because i had it lying around and the 2.2 intake box was giving me grief. I want to put a snorkel but my brat is on hold as far as projects go, got to get the wife's car finished.

Thanks. What kind of cone/adapter did you go with? I doubt I'll see any performance, but it would be inspectable and cleanable. It's not going to Dakar or anything, so I wouldn't mind keeping it under the hood and looking at it occasionally.

I had a cold air kit I never put on my jetta years ago when I was naive about cars  The cone filter is just a generic one like autozone carries, and they have an adapter plate also only the bolt pattern isn't right. the plate autozone has is square, while my EJ MAF sensor the bolts are in a rectangle shape (hopefully that makes sense, if not, I will draw it out as thats how my mind works) So I just drilled some holes into the plate so meet the bolts and hooked it up. I can get a picture if you want.

I get it. Thanks. I never thought an intake was that great of a thing, but here I am considering it. How strange...

honestly, the stock EJ airbox does a very good job of keeping the dust out. now, having not done an EJ swap on an EA81, I'm not sure what the best way to use the EJ airbox.

But, on my lifted Ea82, I relocated the stock airbox up to the spare tire well by the firewall. it was easy with the TBI system on the EA82 to just rotate it, but with an EJ you'd have to make a custom plenum to go from the throttle body to the MAF with some ports on it for the PCV system and such. but it probably wouldn't be too hard. either use steel and weld onto it, or aluminum and braze it.
