doc526
I fixed my misfire a while ago with new plugs. Turns out that #3 electrode was totally shot. :-\ I still have the occasional burp/stumble at low rpms( >2500 ) but it does not bother me enough to deal with it. No codes either. subynut
Yeah, that was the first thing I did. I also tried the wires. Neither did anything. Strange thing was it did not stumble whatsoever. There was no feeling in the power band that it was miss firing. It always trips the light while cruising above 2700 RPM, if I keep it below that, it will not trip the light. And it is always cyls 3&4, always. The car practically never cools down, it's on the road so much, so I have not had a chance to check the TPS, which is my next step. The car has now developed a small miss, but it is time for plugs, wires, oil change, headlight and fog light, filter change, and a few other pieces. Just have to get it inline with the rest of the Subarus that require my attention.
1-3-2-4
I thought or I swear i saw on endwrench that some 97 OBW's had faulty ECU's which require a flash? I call it the ghost CEL flash.. My story on mine is I went almost 12 months without it coming on and I pull the battery wires to change my starter contacts and now it's almost every day it blinks or it will be every other day.. You can go WOT when it blinks and it runs the same as if the CEL was never on.. My idle is normal my plug wires are only 4 months old.. I ended getting those at the dealer because they were cheaper then the NGK's last time I checked the coil pack was in spec for what the service manual listed
