Fairtax4me
I needs one. I've read about this "Hard" transmission mount that the newer STIs use with the 6 speed trans. PN D1010FE000. Does anyone know for certain if that one would fit on my 96 5 speed? Also if anyone has used one is there any noticeable difference in NVH from the normal one? Legacy777
The 6 speed mount is different than the 5 speed mount. As for the hardened mounts vs the standard one. It is stiffer and will increase NVH, but in my opinion it's not too bad. It's noticable, but like I said, it's not too bad.

'84 Flat-Four
Noise Vibration and Harshness... ? (me thinks)
Fairtax4me
Noise Vibration and Harshness... ? (me thinks) Correcto! Honestly, I'm not to worried about the NVH, unless theres a really huge difference. This thing shakes and vibrates enough already, A little more won't bother me as long as it is fixing a current problem. So the 5 speed is different. Do you know the PN for the 5 speed part? Or is that the one? I figure I might as well go for the harder one since it's about half the cost of the normal one.
Legacy777
D1010FE020 is the part # for the 5spd "sti hardened" mount. You can get it for $67 at http://www.subarugenuineparts.com
Fairtax4me
Awesome! Thanks a bunch! I'll get the dealer to price one for me when I go pick up the other stuff I ordered last week. Most things they can beat online pricing. And if not, not having to pay shipping usually makes it worth it. One of those little perks of working for the company. Another way to order them is to ask for the group N motor/transmission mounts. I've been running them for over a year on my '97 Impreza and they are noticeably noisier than our '99 Forester; but the handling is much more precise and worth the difference to me. I'll probably stick with the trans mount for now. The motors mounts could probably stand to be replaced, but they don't feel like they're flopping around all over the place when I shift or accelerate hard.
