TRAVIS75
Okay this isn't exactly a direct subaru question, on in the way that I'm going to possibly put it in my subaru. I've tried finding my answer in other audio forums but most of them have had anybody on them in years. We recently pick up a Dodge pickup that had rolled and was on its top. When we rolled up to this thing the stereo was still playing. We ran this crunched up dodge through our auction and no surprise no one bought it. This resulted in us pulling out the amp, and speaker box. I can't find anywhere, anything about this amp as far as quality etc. Its an MDX-2652. Don't know if MDX is the maker? 2652 is the model? I know this much if you google or go on Yahoo even Bing and just type in MDX-2652 all you get is a bunch of sites that lead back to Mountain Dew. There's so many people that visit this forum, I'm kinda hopin that someone might stumble across this question and have an answer...thanks
bheinen74
MDX got sued by MTX and MDX lost...they had to change their name as a result of the ruling....SO...MDX = MD Audio link to similar http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/MD-Sound-2-Channel-1200-Watts-Mosfet-Amplifier/1813930/product.html no good really... GeneralDisorder
Low end cheapo amp it sounds like. I found some posts on a car audio forum saying they are notorious lier's about the wattage rating of their units, etc. Not that it won't work - just probably isn't rated at the power it claims it is. TRAVIS75
well beings how I've got absolutely nothing more than a 2 front door speakers, of which one is blown, I talked to the boss and he said he'd sell it for 35.00 and he'd sell me the 2 10 inch speakers and box (heavy sum*************** LOL) for another 35.00. The speakers just say Punch---which I'm assuming are Rockford Fosgate and at the bottom of the speaker it says P2, which from my understanding is the 2nd series of Punch speaker a fairly reasonable speaker. All in all 70 bucks, should be an improvement. Too bad I don't know chit from chinola about installing it LOL:-\
bheinen74
Might i suggest take that 70 dollars and buy a pair of good door speakers instead. Or you will just have tons of bass (maybe) and 1 blown door speaker and 1 other good door speaker. Might sound terrible.
TRAVIS75
I think at this point, I'll spend another 70 dollars and buy some good door speakers. Or just go out in our salvage yard and find something, would really like to get some for the rear doors too. Its a start anyways, very least I'm sure I could sell at least the speakers for more than I paid for everything else combined.
crazyman03
spend the extra money. Don't get your heart set on what you find at the salvage yard. You'd be suprised what you can get out of some good door speakers. Mid/High Range speakers make all the difference when it comes to car audio. Having too much bass simply sounds like crap - cant hear much for words, you get a big headache just listening to it. Keep in mind, you get what you pay for. If you just want sound, you can go with the Walmart special $20 speakers. Or, (and I'm not saying you need to do this) spend 70 or so on a decent set. Personally, component speakers sound way better than 2 or 3-way speakers (the sets that have the tweeter external from the mid-range cone) especially when it comes to the front of a vehicle. You can put the mid speaker in the door and put the tweeter on the dash firing up or on the pillar firing inwards. with component systems you can get a bit creative when it comes to sound. If you find a decent midrange set, you can *almost* get as good as having a sub. now, you cant quite get AS good as with having a sub because midrange speakers cant quite get as low frequency as sub-woofers can but still.. anyway, sorry to get all technical. Just keep in mind, you get what you pay for. Unless its a killer deal then thats different -Justin Edited January 30, 2010 by crazyman03
xbeerd
yeah those speakers are just subwoofers, and im guessing the amp is crossed over around 180mhz so you will just get some thumpin and tones... look for a good set of 2 way speakers for the doors, even somethin cheap will be better than nothin. i got door speakers for free from a dude on craigslist who bought them and didnt use them. it worked out perfect! if the amp/subs still work you could get some cash for it from some dood in the hood. xbeerd
Just keep in mind, you get what you pay for. Unless its a killer deal then thats different -Justin my freebies are "DUAL" brand speakers, they are pretty cheap but they sound just fine. but then, i listen to the radio about 20 mins a day total. Mornin radio show in the morning, and then whatever is on in the afternoon afterwork. no need for good/great sound with my AmFm deck. LOL. and i only use ONE of the speakers. haha. but im weird. so its all good. i used to be audiophile in the car, but 3 stolen systems and a damaged ear later i figure i dont need all that noise.
