PO325 Knock Sensor Code won't go away, wiring?

Recommended Posts

Dropped a 95 2.2 into a 98 Outback. The PO325 Knock Sensor Code won't go away, the sensor is reading 550 ohms of resistance, same as the spare one I installed.

I'll get out the wiring diagrams when I have time. Just thought I'd post here to see if anyone has had wiring issues with the 98 Outback knock sensor.

Thanks, Larry

Well, first of all you're actually working with a 95 knock sensor.

And IIR the 95 2.2 and the 98 2.5 are different. I'm about to go through the same process with a 97 2.5 that I just had the HG's done in since my garage is tied up. I think I only have 3-4 knock sensors in the drawer (probably more on parts engines) and I believe they are all for the later model 2.5's and are different than the 95 2.2. Infact I think the connector is different.

Could be wrong.

If you find a weird problem please post it. When I dig out from the snow I'll be playing with the same issue myself.

Code P0325 states there is a problem with the knock sensor circuit, not the knock sensor. You need to check the wiring from the ECU to the sensor for a problem. A bad connection at the sensor is the usual cause of this trouble.

Yes, I"ll have to get the wiring diagrams out and the meter. This car was not running when I got it, so this problem may have been there for a long time. I've never had any problems with the 2.5 to 2.2 swaps. As the code comes back on right away, won't clear if the car is running, I'm pretty sure its wiring.

Lost my reply.

But please post what the problem ends up being.

I have the same problem and have never had troubles with the wireing before.

Originally I could clear the CEL. Now it just blinks one time when I clear it and stays on.

When I get the car dug out I'll be poking around, but I'm electrically challanged so any pointers would be appreciated.

That was Easy, water in the connector from the firewall to the engine. I always steam clean the engines and engine bays, I guess with the winter weather it did not dry out enough.

I'll post the Checks for the Knock Sensor when I get time.
