Fuel Injector Rebuild. UPDATE - FAIL!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Would spraying some MAP cleaner on them do the job?

Think you mean MAF cleaner.AFAIK, they are the same thing. Can`t think of anything more suitible.

Don`t know if spraying them will get it done, but, that is a very aggressive solvent.

Dissolves hard baked on deposits while you watch.

So I got the engine together, tried to start it..... cranks but won't give a hint of turning over. After checking spark and timing, my next line of attack was fuel delivery. I'm getting fuel to the rail, but nothing into the cylinders. Turns out those lower miles injectors were dead. I checked by connecting them to a voltage source and listening for the tell-tale "tick". I get nothing with all four injectors. I check the testing methodology on the old injectors, and they open and close just fine. No, do I just swap the old injectors back in, or get new ones? Performance improvement wise, are new ones worth the cost?

Why not clean up the old ones and put them back in? Fill with cleaner, hit it with the air compressor and put power to it to open it. Repeat a few times for each one.

I saw someone who made a mini-fuel rail he filled with cleaner, put compressed air into, and clicked the injector on/off. Seems like it should've worked pretty well.

hi,

i am pretty sure they run on a reduced voltage, i cant remember but i think about 5v. maybe someone that is sure about that can jump in. the xt has a dropping resister pack near the strut tower. and i know i read this lower voltage thing in a fsm some time ago.

Hi. all, I have a good source for rebuilts. Check with Charlie @ Osidetiger.com. They'll make you up anything you want. He made me a set of 380cc for my turbo car. He ships em out with all new stainless hdwr.- spacer blocks- hoses & clamps-connectors W/ pig tails- even solder & shrink tube. Complete set of 4 shipped to me was $207.00. I'm a happy camper. Keep plugin, S.
