Durania
I will be the first to welcome our head gasket overlords. They been keeping the Subaru service department in business since 1996.

rverdoold
Those look like the HG i have on my 1.6. There are parts on the block some pieces of HG stick out (corner).
MilesFox
looks very much like the ones that came in my fel-pro kit. The ones i got had milti layers and a fuji stamping (2 on one side, the metal gasket, and another layer on the other side) this was a 97 2.7 dohc
nipper
i'm confused. Is this ANOTHER HG design, or a updated one for 2005 and newer, or did he just notice someone invented the lightbulb?
mikec03
It seems clear that Subaru did not solved the head gasket problem subsequent to 2002. If you read the recent replies to Juston Stobb's blog noted below, you will see plenty of 03's, 04's etc complaining about HG leaks. The more the pity since I own a late production '02 and was hoping I wouldn't have to face that problem. http://allwheeldriveauto.com/subaru-head-gasket-problems-explained/
MilesFox
if the most recent design is backward compatible, then the revised design of the gasket is current for all late model engines
subaruplatt
Is there a MLS head gasket available anywhere for the base 06 Naturally aspirated engines? All I can see are turbo gaskets.
Gsir08
What is that guy talking about? even the orginal phase 1 Ej25's had MLS headgaskets... only the older 2.2's were composite?
subaruplatt
I thought that the current "fix" model was single layer, nes pa?. For 06 impreza 2.5i N/A Specifically ? http://www.subarupartsforyou.com/cp_partdetail.php?partid=17426
CNY_Dave
So I guess when the dealer replaces the gaskets on our 2.5L 2005 forester (oil leak, both sides) those are the gaskets they'll use. Dave
Petersubaru
..A little more new HG info @.. http://allwheeldriveauto.com/subaru-head-gasket-change/
mikec03
.A little more new HG info @.. http://allwheeldriveauto.com/subaru-head-gasket-change/ That's huge. It implies that the head gasket "fix" from 2002-2009 in NA engines wasn't effective! Maybe, all of us with these cars better start budgeting for a head gasket replacement. The Dude
Does anyone on the board have any experience with All Wheel Drive Auto? My 105,000 timing belt change is coming up. I might consider buying all the parts for the belt change from them.
