Bellts and Gasket Vendor

Recommended Posts

In the middle of re-building heads on an EJ222.

Will need gasket and timing belt kits. I have read about inferior timing belt idlers, and vendors who kink the belts when shipping- so I'd like to avoid those problems.

But good grief, I checked the prices on line and I am looking at 400 dollars just for the engine gasket set and timing belt set. I will still need accessory belts and a couple hoses!

I have had good, but limited experience with Rock Auto online - with Ishino made.

Any suggestions appreciated.

timing belt, idlers, even water pump from the importexperts on ebay, they also have a front seals version w/ cam, crank, oil pump, valve cover, etc. w/ all of the above for about 200$.

other folks have mentioned mizumoto, or something like that, on ebay they have gasket kits but i know nothing about them.

search ebay for "subaru legacy timing kit" i think.

maybe buy the head gaskets separate.

After being recommended here I use "theimportexperts" idler kits. Get all 3 belts (timing, 2 accessory) locally (Dayco), and get all gaskets and seals from the dealer. I do sometimes use FelPro for intake, exhaust, and VC. That combo works for me.

I've probably done 20+ 2.5s with this combo and more 2.2's (minus the HG's).

importexperts, is no longer a registered user on ebay and has no auctions. Are you sure about the spelling?

I looked at their auction and the way the timing belt is nearly crimped, worries me.

Look at the photo in the auction , for some reason this forum will not accept inserting a photo by url, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1999-2001-Subaru-Impreza-2-2-2-5-SOHC-Timing-Belt-Kit_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem45f134bb91QQitemZ300399508369QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

They used to be on Ebay all the time. They have a real local parts place and sometimes that is how they answer the phone. Infact I can't understand Roberto so I ask for one of the other guys.

I just look for old emails since I'm always doing something non-standard. Getting an extra cogged pulley for stock, getting a new style tensioner and an idler for the old style at the same time, etc.

I haven't bought anything from them since September probably. Garage has been tied up and I've been out of town working. But I just supplied my last idler set for a HG job last week so I'm all out.

They handle the PCI kits w/GMB bearings in the idlers. Others gotta be similar. I've rarely had a problem and when I did these folks handled it well. I tend to keep doing business with the same folks until they loose it due to product, service, or significant price difference.
