I got the magic black box from from E-trailer. Its stright forward, just plug it in. This is so I can bring Blu's little brother home. What I need to know (since there is a foot of snow on the ground im not going poking) is there a place that these harness run through the body?

i routed mine down behind the side trim piece (pretty easy), under the floor piece on the left side of the cargo area (easy) and leave it in the spare tire compartment. when i need it i feed it out the hatch, flat, with no problems. this keeps it out of the weather 351 days a year.

are you going to use a tow dolly or a tow bar? have you picked out a name yet?

ps: i hope Blu is terribly unhappy with his little brother, gets jealous and sits in the driveway pouting and weeping oil. so much so you have to sell me this little justy just to make Blu happy. i am envious.

Its 2wd so Tow Dolly. I may just call him Justy. Its a simple name. He only has 32,000 miles so he breaks my rules on naming a car. Got to have over 100K on it, thats when they get a personaility.

Maybe after I drive it a summer it will get a name.

Well....

The justy is a hedge against high gas prices (Blu gets 19 around town). Also since autoparts stores closed, its hard to get parts easily.

So Blu doesnt get jelouse a 2nd car will make it easier to fix his EGR system and the heated seats that don't work.

But i will send him your reguards.

He is getting a roof basket in the spring that can hold an axe, shovel and spare tire. The Justy doesnt have AC (tempting to correct that) so Blu will still be used in the heat of summer locally. Blu didnt get jelouse of the bicycle so we should be good.

:-p

oh sweet, yes you found a justy finally, nice hit nipper!

yeah i'd do what JCE says. those plugs tend to quit working and get dirty fairly easily so keeping them hidden is a big plus to keep them out of the elements.

i have no idea what the EGR piece is you and I talked about last week by the way.

I second the interior installation, just keep it inside the rear storage compartment, keeps it from corroding.

what kind did you get that was a plug-in model? i have never seen a plug and play unit for a subaru, even as a hitch installer at u-haul for 2 years.

otherwise, i was gonna say with the splice in 3-wire unit, be sure to gorund it to the body, or you might get a taillight warning on the dash if a trailer light goes out.

also, if the trailer lights are grounded through the frame, you wont have to worry about a ground lead to the pigtail because it will ground through the ball.

I put one on my girlfriends Forester. We keep the wires inside. Those converter boxes are notorious for getting corroded and shorting out the vehicle wiring.

Thanks again for the airbag dx last night. Got to go to bed knowing all was good.
