Check engine light issues

Recommended Posts

Looking for suggestions...

I've got a 93 Loyale. Recently had a valve job. Check engine light started flashing on the way home. Returned it to the shop. When we went to check for codes, mechanic realized that the plugs(for checking codes) had not been disconnected prior to starting the engine. Can't get the check engine light to come on now. We've checked the fuse for the computer, the bulb and have given it a couple months to reset. Still no light when we turn the key. Mechanic doesn't know what else to try and can't get the car smogged without the engine light coming on. Any feedback would be appreciated!!

Thanks!

Find a mechanic that can use a MM. Should be a pretty simple fix. Voltage to the bulb, ground at the ECU.

And if it's something inside the ECU or you can't otherwise fix it then wire it in so it comes on with the bulb check for the e-brake or something. It's just a bulb check - it's not a deal breaker as far as getting it to pass smog - you can fool those people by simply crossing a wire.
