craazyfool
so not long ago my mom let somebody borrow her car, from what she told me they described it as a popping sound while driving down the highway right before it died out and now it wont start, i took a peek at it and can already see its getting no spark, from what i have read that could be caused by cam and crank position sensors, coil, igniter, and ecu? perhaps somebody has some insight on this and sorry if this is a repeat question, thanks
montana105
How did you test for spark? And how many cylinders did you check? What kind of mileage on this car? Any idea of recent repairs or maintenance?
Tapil
More details! 1 what happens when you turn the key? 2 any strange noises during the start sequence? 3 have you reccently done ANY mod to the car that could remotely affect: Electircal/grounds or any engine? Sparkplug wires or plugs? 4 Does it sound like its turning over but not igniting? Thanks :
craazyfool
it cranks over just wont start, the car is stock, and i tested by sticking a screw driver in the wires and holding it near the motor, i checked all of them, went to the junkyard and tried a different coil but same results, will check the other stuff i listed earlier, but hopefully somebody could tell me something else i might be missing to look for when i try again... montana105
Ok how long since plug wires were changed? Or more important any voltage at coil? Not to be an AH but is there fuel? And any response to question #3 from tapil?

94Loyale
I'm surprised I'm the first to say this.... But pull one of the the timing covers and make sure the belt didn't go... It's a subaru, if it doesn't run, start diagnosing after you check the timing belt
