bergle
The front end of my 93 legacy wagon seems to be loose. It is quite scary when driving at high speeds and it meanders across the road on its own. I was told that it needs new rubber bushings, but I don't know what to order, or call them. Any thoughts? Also, if you don't think that's the problem let me know that too. thanks-
sparky11
Lower ball joints that are worn will give you that feeling. It's very disconcerting and unsafe.
bergle
I also forgot to mention that it is quite loud and rattles when you go over a bump and I had the front shocks replaced recently.
sparky11
Was this there right after the shocks/struts were replaced? Was it there before? If this happened just after or soon after the repair it sounds like something could have come loose. Were you told other parts were needed in the suspension when the struts were replaced and did they show what they were talking about?
bergle
The problem was there before the struts were replaced. I thought the struts were what was causing the rattling, but it wasn't. I replaced the struts myself and then just haven't really been driving it.
john in KY
Ball joints and tie rod ends are cheap so just replace them. Also check the bushings holding the steering rack.
