tomo
Hi all. My repair manual for my ea82 says that the fuell filter never needs replacing as it is a self cleaning type one. Do people still replace them? I think it would be a good idea, after cleaning itself for 20 years. Can you buy them? Poor fuell economy and power (limited i know) may be somewhat due to this I would have thought. Cheers.
backcountrycrui
Ive got an 86 gl, dont recall reading anything about the filter in my manual. I purchased a filter from autozone after realy looking at mine and seeing a production date of the early 90's. MIke
tomo
"Your subaru uses a cartridge type filter, so it is unnecessary to clean the filter" Going to go down to repco tomorrow and see if they stock them.
Rust
I replaced my EA82 filter with a Mazda(FI) one. Fits ok and works fine. I relaced it simply because it was 20 yrs old. When subaru wrote the manual stating "never needs replacement" I don't think they were thinking of people using the cars for 25 yrs or more.
