Soob Dude
I have a 95 Legacy SW that 4 some reason doesnt want 2 start when it rains. I replaced the crank sensor, the mass air flow sensor and the coil pack and still no luck. There arent any bare wires exposed (2 the naked eye) that could be getting wet. Im at my wits end here, can somebody help a brother out???
Mike104
Have you changed the spark plug wires?
Cougar
Try spraying the ignition wires with some water in a spray bottle while the engine is running at night. Check for any arcing from the wires to ground.
lmdew
Any codes stored in the computer? Check the wires right behind the crank sensor plug. If the insulation is cracked fix it.
Fairtax4me
What do you mean by "wont start"? Does it crank but not fire? Or does it just click when the key is turned?
Soob Dude
What do you mean by "wont start"? Does it crank but not fire? Or does it just click when the key is turned? It will run 4 a few seconds but then sputters and dies
Fairtax4me
Then we need to start chasing a no idle problem rather than a no start. The first thing I always tell people, check for vacuum leaks. What maintenance have you done in the last 6 months?

I replaced the tranny and put it back on the road. I changed the oil and put new plugs and wires on her.
johnceggleston
spark? air? fuel? try spraying some ether or carb cleaner? into the intake when it trys to die. see if more fuel makes a difference.
MorganM
try spraying some ether or carb cleaner? into the intake when it trys to die. see if more fuel makes a difference. I always hear ppl say this but can you be more specific? It's a fuel injected engine so you can't just 'pop off the air cleaner and shoot ether down the carb'... Where exactly are you opening up the air intake system to allow you to spray in starting fluid yet not hose the MAF's hot wire or cause a huge vacume leak? MorganM
It will run 4 a few seconds but then sputters and dies You say it only does this when it's wet? As in; it's been raining out and now the car does this? If it's been dry outside does it otherwise run normal? How long do you have to let it dry out before it does run? Soob Dude
well originally that was the problem. If it was raining all day then it wouldnt start 4 about 2 days afterward. When it was dry it would start and run fine. But now it wont start at all. Its been siting in the garage for about 4 days now and still wont start. It would run like i said for a couple of seconds, but today i tried starting it and it just keeps cranking and wont run at all.
Fairtax4me
Can you smell gas in the tail pipe after cranking the engine for 10 seconds or so? How about when you turn the key to the ON position, do you hear the fuel pump prime? It should run for 3 or 4 seconds then cut off. Might help to have a helper turn the key while you listen under the car.
Soob Dude
fuel pump doesnt prime. pulled the connector off and checked 4 power, nothing. im not exactly sure where the fuse is, the owners manual doesnt show a fuse 4 the pump. the haynes manual says there is 2 relays behind the fuse box. i took the box off and theres only 1 relay behind it and it's working. if any1 knows where the fuse is located let me know. And also the wagon is a 94 not a 95 like i said.
Fairtax4me
Might be the main relay under the dash. I think it's yellow. Has a couple large wires coming out of the connector. Make sure it clicks when you turn the key ON. If not smack it with the handle of a screwdriver a few times and see if it starts working.
