1st time Subi owner

Recommended Posts

My name is Torc ad I'm a new Subaru owner.

Back in Feb, thanks to lay-offs, we had our van repoed and after loosing a few days of work due to snow storms my sup told me of a car he knew of that was for sale for $200. It ran and had 4WD and it was called a BRAT.

That day after work I stopped by the place where it sat and took a brief look as it was getting late and decided to buy it. I went home and started researching what a BRAT was and immediately got hooked.

This was the day I drove it home

It's rusted to hel and back. Heat barely works, defrost is non-exsistant, the fuel tank leaks (currently in the works to be fixed) and I have since repainted it.

Despite all that, I love to drive it!

The sad part is that it is one of two known in the area and the other is out of my price range to by ATM. The body is beyond repair beyond pop riveting the worst spots. I'll drive it till it dies, salvage the engine and what good parts that are on it and then lay it to rest.

Hopefully by then I can get the other one or another older Subi.

Layoff do really suck - seems like we know a lot of people in the same boat. Glad you scored the Brat. Old GL Wagons and Hatchs are very fun too. I have an 86 Hatch that is a blast too and the old 83 wagon goes ride down the road and does pretty well in 4WD.

Welcome to the board.
