profanesam Posted March 30, 2010 Share Posted March 30, 2010 Hi i got a Forester 99' and it makes a rattling noise or a shake when it shift's from 2nd to 3rd gear. If i let go off the petal when it's about to shift it does it quite smoothly, act's much better without any added pressure so to say. No sounds or anything when shifting down, into gear when taking off or reverse though. The sound comes from the middle/under the front seats. I have been thinking if it could be a gear in the transmission itself, the CV joint or the transmission mount??? Have anyone have this happen? brus brother Posted March 30, 2010 Share Posted March 30, 2010 (edited) Rattling noise could possibly just be the heat shields on the exhaust. Get under the car and bang around on those buggers. They can decide to rattle at peculiar times. Not sure about the "shake" part of the equation though.
