profanesam
Hi i got a Forester 99' and it makes a rattling noise or a shake when it shift's from 2nd to 3rd gear. If i let go off the petal when it's about to shift it does it quite smoothly, act's much better without any added pressure so to say. No sounds or anything when shifting down, into gear when taking off or reverse though. The sound comes from the middle/under the front seats. I have been thinking if it could be a gear in the transmission itself, the CV joint or the transmission mount??? Have anyone have this happen? Could use some help here to determine how to tackle this problem... Thanks
brus brother
Rattling noise could possibly just be the heat shields on the exhaust. Get under the car and bang around on those buggers. They can decide to rattle at peculiar times. Not sure about the "shake" part of the equation though. Edited March 30, 2010 by brus brother
profanesam
Yeah i am not sure, the rattle/shake is actually very powerful. I can always check the shields, might as well. I am thinking of bringing the car in someday here if i can't figure it out...
Fairtax4me
I'd bet on a heat shield. They can make an awful racket when they get loose. Check the ones on the catalytic converters too.
