Speedwagon
that my '98 Legacy key would work in my '87 Brat? Because I apparently hit the jackpot. The 2 keys are cut the same, and I found out the other day I can use either key in both cars. Of all the key combos, I managed to get 2 vehicles with the exact same one! bheinen74
not surprised that other keys fit the BRAT. sort of surprised your BRAT key will start another though. I have started my BRAT with 5 different legacy keys I found in the junkyard, and was able to start my old legacy with the BRAT key. One key from a junkyard legacy fit the trunk but nothing else on my old 94 wagon. dont go tell the world how easy it is to get into and drive off on our cars. I use the CLUB anytime i park for more than a few hours........ also, if you park overnight someplace, pull some ignition fuse, or plug/coil wire and disable your car the easy way. I was quite surprised as well. When I compared the 2 keys, they are cut the same. The Brat key is even a fresh Subaru cut-from-the-code key, and it fits right into the Legacy, no problem. It is that incredibly small chance that I happened to hit.
MilesFox
i had sobs that would work with viirtually any key due to worn lock cylinders. i did however, have an 87 rx and an 88 sedan that coincidentally had the same key cut, and either key would work in either car in any lock or ignition. when i go junk'n, i'll keep the keys to cars i have already gone through. i got a key ring with some 25 keys laying around. every now and again a random key will fit in a random car. if i remember right, something like 1 out of every 65 subarus will have the same key code
