yuflesh
hi everyone, new to the group, just bought a hovercraft with ea82, subaru 1.8l motor. Need to replace the prop on the hovercraft. Where is the powerband on this motor? I got an option of 66 " prop which runs best at 3600-3800 rpm, or 72" prop that will run best at 3100 - 3200 rpm. Which one will produce more torque / hp in the above rpm ranges. Thank you Marko Edited April 24, 2010 by yuflesh
Turbone
It depends on whether its FI or carbed. FI - horsepower 94@5200rpm, torque 101@2800rpm Carbed - horsepower 73@4400rpm, torque 94@2400rpm
yuflesh
weber carb came with motor. Can you / is it worth converting to FI? Sounds like either of them will work for power band..... smaller prop will use more fuel....but probably not significant difference. Jerry DeMoss
What pitch are you running on that prop? I am assuming fixed pitch prop correct? I think if you are running the weber carb on that engine it should be plenty powerful and not necessary to conver to fuel injection.
yuflesh
Im just replacing the prop that came with it. I havent purchased the new prop just yet. Old one has a crack and damage on it. Currently there is 66" on it, but I think I can fit 72 ", which will lower it to about 3200 rpm without too much noise. If you got suggestions for a prop, im all ears. Still very much in looking stage... Thank you

eulogious
+1 ^^ PICS!! A hover craft with a subie engine on it, there's something I never thought of. Makes sense because the aviation guys use the ea81's...
