93loyalewagen
Hey guys, I recently bought a 93, 5 speed with electronic 4x4. The car starts and ildes just fine, however when driving down the road has little to no power. The first 1/3 of the gas pedal movment is responsive and smooth, anything more then that the engine runs rough and dosent make anymore power. Reguadrless of rpm it only runs happy with slight throttle. I know these cars are not power houses, but I feel something is off. Any tips and tricks to check would be greatly appreciated. Also, what mods yeild worth while gains? Intake, exhaust, etc....... Thanks in advance,
vagen
look at your spark plugs wires and cap. it sounds like a high load miss. I would also change the fuel filter just incase you are starving for fuel. I had a car do this and the filter ended up being the culprit. worst case cenario the fuel pump could be on the way out but somehow I doubt that. 93loyalewagen
I installed new cap, rotor, plugs and wires when I bought the car. Also checked for vacume leaks and things like that. Il pick up a filter on my way home today. Def won't hurt to swap it out just to be sure. Thx
eulogious
What about your timing? Is it good?
93loyalewagen
I haven't checked that yet. Also a good idea. Any other suggestions? Sensors? Would removing the belt driven fan, and installing an electric one free up some power?
Gloyale
I haven't checked that yet. Also a good idea. Any other suggestions? Sensors? Would removing the belt driven fan, and installing an electric one free up some power? not really. You car isn't running right. solve that, (plugs and wires, and fuel filter)....then check things like Throttle Sensor or MAF sensor.
93loyalewagen
How can I test the sensors if the fuel filter dosent resolve my issue?
Markus56
it is a pain in the rear. i would pull off the timing belt covers and see if one of the belts has jumped a tooth.
