Lykoi
I have friend who came across this in a storage with about 4 brats. From what I know it's a 78 or 79 dl 4wd I'm going to look at it and make an offer (depending on condition) this weekend. So a few tips on what to look for would be much appreciated. Not new to cars, but this gen of Subaru is new to me.
kiwi subbie
As far as I know the coupe didnt come in 4wd and wasnt a DL? I maybe wrong on that? It could be a GL and front wheel drive

Twitch de la Brat
Look for rust everywhere. In that generation the most likely places are the front fenders, rear wheel wells, floorpans, and the underbody. If this is a 4x4 factory model, then you have found an extremely rare gem. If you the owner knows what he has, I wouldn't be afraid to say around 1-1.5k in decent condition. But if he just thinks its a junky old subaru, offer him a few hundred bucks. Qman
As far as I remember, the only 4WDs were the BRAT and the wagon prior to 1980. I can't find any documentation otherwise.

And a very rear JDM 1976ish? 4wd sedan. I enquired alot in the past about a 4wd coupe and there has been nothing in the 1400/1600 coupe line. The earlyest one I know of is the 1982-83ish RX coupe. It mite have been fitted with the running gear out 4wd wagon? One guy did that in aussie back in was it 76 or 79?
Leeroy
The only way that 'stage 2' coupe is 4x4 is if someone took the time to convert it. No coupes of that generation came from the factory with 4x4.
coylethebarbarian
glad to see someone on here picked up on this one. I'm no expert, buy from reading on here I thought it was a rare soob. Funny part is, I printed the CL add out at work a few nights ago and was prepared to call today about this one. Definitely check it out, let us know...if you don't take it and it's a good one I may snag it to keep it from going to scrap! Of course, that would be 4 soobs plus the possible XT-6 I'm working on getting...hey, can't let these good ones go to waste!
