Jibs
So I'm about ready to start trimming 2 wiring harnesses for the EJ swap and had a few questions/comments. I've searched around and have found some good info, but I'm still a little green when it comes to this whole wiring thing. First off, and I can't remember if its covered in the writeup, but one of the harnesses I have is from a 5speed manual and the other seems to be from an auto. There's a black connector labeled shift lock that Im guessing is the auto. What is to be done as far as putting the auto harness into a manual car. Manuals have a neutral safety switch right? I need these identified: They are all up near all of the guage cluster wires: And whats the group of wires under the fuse panel here? I believe the red wire with the brown connector is for the fusible links right? What about the rest? I have started removing wires from the guage cluster part; namely the cigarette lighter, power mirrors, tape deck, etc. Also, where are the AC wires, they didn't get tegged for whatever reason? Thank you everyone, I appreciate all the help.
Gloyale
You don't need any of the stuff in those pictures. Do make sure to cut off the Alternator connectors from the EJ harness. Leave yourself a bit of a pigtail on them to tie into the EA harness.
Jibs
Good to know, thanks. Can you name them for reference though? Just so I csan get more familiar with what they all are? Thanks.
Numbchux
don't know what they are. but the only thing you'll need in the interior is ECU plugs, and ignition/fuel relays. might also want select monitor and test/read mode connectors. Everything else gets cut off. trace each wire back, if it goes to one of those plugs that you need, identify it, and decide if you need it. then cut it off accordingly (if you need it, leave lots of wire so you can tap it in somewhere. if not, cut as much off as possible). ShawnW
Basically my new version of the harness when I am done you don't know if its an auto or a manual harness originally aside from being able to tell the ECM number and reference it that way. Otherwise I de-pin the whole thing of anything related to a transmission its just an engine harness if done right IMO. But what I am saying is you need to find the key plugs and cut virtually everything else off to begin the harness if you sit there trying to identify each plug and what it was for you will be there for a week or more.
