Recommended Posts

So I fixed the issue with my car(dont want to talk about it, my error:mad:) The CEL came on after a real bad situation, well its fixed now how the hell do I get it off without taking it in? I disconnected the - batt terminal for 8hrs and it didnt shut off, this is the first time its ever come on the car has 136k well maintained.

Ok, well here is what happened, I replaced the spark plugs about a year ago, well lately we have had ALOT of exhaust fumes coming into the cabin via the vents, well I was driving down the road yesterday and all of a sudden BOOM popopopopopopoopo like a briggs and stratton on crack, couldnt do much over 25mph, well first though! exhaust manifold, and timing belt. Nope fortunately I bought new gaskets at RockAuto.com for way cheap and had them in the car, put them on and nope still doing the mower thing, like an idiot I dint check under the hood first, well to my surprise the # 4 plug was completely blown out the wire was just hanging there!:banghead: So I figured it must have just been slowly loosening for a while. So I went to Napa and got a new plug! done it ran better than it ever has before:banana: But still have the CEL on which my though is it came on due to an OBVIOUS missfire in #4 so hopefully it will cycle its self and turn off otherwise I'll take it in and have it done or hopefully not have to replace anthing else.

nope, somehow it loosened its self out, the threads on the plug were fine like the new one, I put the new one in and it seated just fine, I really think someone who is an rump roast may have done it to it! but who knows could have been my misstake since I had a few when I did the plugs last.

It's not the plug threads you need to worry about--they're hard steel. It's the threads in the much softer aluminum head where the damage would be. Hope you've solved the problem and are good to go!
