Duraznov
My '93 Loyale knocks when the revs rises over 3000 (not when I try to get torque from the bottom), so I tried to check the knock sensor, but there isn't where it supposed to be, there's just the empty thread in the block... Is this normal? Does all the Injection models have to have a knock sensor or not necessarily? (I use RON 95 or 97 depending on my wallet) Thanks Edited May 14, 2010 by Duraznov
Cougar
It should have one I believe. You can trick the ECU circuit by substituting the sensor with a resistor. Someone may have done that.
GLCraig
If I remember right only the MPFI turbo EA82s had the knock sensor.
Gloyale
93 Loyale is SPFI NO KNOCK SENSOR. Run higher octane or pull back the timing a bit.
Duraznov
93 Loyale is SPFI Here in Chile there was a version available with MPFI (non-turbo) I have pictures to prove it! Thanks to all of you, it seems it never used a knock sensor because there is not a failure code at the led in the ECU... I will try to adjust the timing.
