swamp truck
Hi to all, just discovered USMB today and it looks like the ideal place to ask for advise and help. Got a Subaru BRAT 1993 (Well i have three one as an every day, one as a prodject and one as a donor) I've developed a serious grinding noise on the car and its worse when turning right, i've changed the wheel bearings but the noise is still there, any ideas what i should look at next, don't know anything about mechanics but learning as i go on. GeneralDisorder
Could be a CV joint, or it could be axle/hub splines with a loose axle nut, or loose lug nuts, etc. GD

Welcome! when you did the bearings, did you check the brake calipers and rotors to make sure they were funtioning properly.... usually a bad axle will present itself as a clicking, but you can get grinding noise from them as well.... Welcome! Now, have you changed all of the wheel bearings? Front and Rear? Not implying you're an idiot, but we do get those who don't realize some things I agree with the likelyhood of the brakes causing the grinding noise. I've had a brake rub when turning on occasion, so I would definitely go through and check out the conditions of your brakes. Also when you're down there make sure none of your plastic underbody sheeting is rubbing on anything. Check your struts for signs of rubbing along with the plastic. Check out your accessories on the front of your engine as well, as the bearings in your alt or water pump may be going away. Twitch
