kevinhoffert Posted May 21, 2010 Share Posted May 21, 2010 hey guys. heres the scoop: im bought an 83 gl its got a rebuilt motor with 30,000 miles on it, and 176,000 on the chassis. 4 spd tranny, 4X4 (of course) third gear in the tranny went out and i want to get if fixed as soon as i can. i need some help to find out where i can buy a used one, a rebuild kit, or find someone with one. any help guys? kev Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Twitch de la Brat Posted May 21, 2010 Share Posted May 21, 2010 Its usually the general consensus that its not worth the time to rebuild these transmissions. Most people do a 5spd swap, taking a transmission from an EA82 subaru and putting it into an EA81 vehicle, aka your car. Just search tranny swap, or transmission swap.
