SubeeTed
Hi ALL! I have a 1997 Subee GT Wagon. I suspect the teeth are gone on my rear mounted factory antenna. It will only go about halfway up. I do here that motor working. Just how much of a PAIN is this to fix myself? I see on Ebay these Antenna people will sell you a mast, the supposedly will fit and fix the problem! Anyone have any experience with this??? Just how much is it a pain to get to the Power Antenna in a wagon? MANY thanks, SubeeTed
Olnick
Never done it on a Subaru so can't help you with specifics. But I did replace a broken mast on the wife's Maxima a few years ago. Took the entire unit out to clean it and check out the mechanism. Really wasn't too much of a pain (easy for me to say now, years later!) Got a very reasonably priced replacement mast from these folks IIRC: http://www.antennamastsrus.com/ Just followed whatever directions came with the mast and whatever I could find on the internet. Went rather easily. Good luck.
Mike104
Wish i knew about that site before I got mine replaced! http://www.antennamastsrus.com/Subaru/Legacy/Legacy%20Wagon%201997-1999.htm Thanks for the great lead (for next time it dies!)
tractor pole
replacing the mast is pretty easy. that being said, its easy as long as the drive cable hasn't broken inside the antenna unit. if it has you have to disassemble the antenna and remove the broken part of the drive cable, otherwise the new mast will not retract all the way and you run the risk of breaking the new drive cable. that site has install instructions as well http://www.antennamastsrus.com/Instructions%20Mast.htm Ben
