foxgap
Previous owner had the clutch replaced about 20K miles ago. Car now has 171K on it. The problem is that the clutch releases smoothly most of the time but every so often it seems to stick and makes the whole drivetrain shudder. This only happens in 1st gear, starting out from a dead stop. I was wondering if it is possible that the cable is sticking or maybe the flywheel was not turned properly when the clutch job was done. I adjusted the clutch to the proper pedal adjustment and it did help some, but it is still happening. For some reason the hillholder was not hooked back up either when the job was done. Another project to get to soon. Is it possible the previous owner was a pedal rider and screwed up the clutch? Opinions? Solutions? Thanks, Mark
Fairtax4me
Probably clutch chatter. If it gets worse when it gets hot then it could just be a cheap clutch. If it seems kind of random then there may be damage to the clutch hub. The flywheel might be glazed from riding the clutch too much, creating a "slick" spot. Either way, the corrective action is... replace clutch.
